OSI Systems Awarded Two Contracts for Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Systems Totaling Approximately $12 Million

HAWTHORNE, Calif., Jun 17, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- OSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIS), a vertically-integrated provider of specialized electronic products for critical applications in the Security and Healthcare industries, today announced that its Security division, Rapiscan Systems, has been awarded two contracts totaling approximately $12 million to provide multiple Rapiscan Eagle(R) mobile cargo and high energy vehicle inspection systems to undisclosed international customs authorities.

OSI Systems CEO, Deepak Chopra, stated, "These orders underscore OSI Systems' position as a leading global provider of cargo and vehicle inspection systems. We are committed to providing our customers with equipment that meets the highest standards for technical performance, reliability and overall value."

The Rapiscan Eagle(R) mobile cargo and vehicle inspection system is mounted on a road-drivable commercial truck platform. The system's advanced high energy transmission X-ray technology is capable of detecting both shielded and unshielded organic and inorganic threats, such as weapons, contraband and narcotics, regardless of location, in both vehicles and cargo containers. The system can be deployed to scan shipping containers and trucks in less than 20 minutes while also being capable of penetrating dense cargo at increased inspection rates without impeding the flow of commerce. The system is part of Rapiscan's Eagle(R) product line of High Energy X-ray Cargo inspection systems that features mobile, gantry, portal and fixed deployment configurations. The products have been installed internationally for use by military, customs and border protection agencies.
