OSI Systems Receives $9 Million Order for Eagle(R) Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Systems from European Customs Agency

HAWTHORNE, Calif., Aug 03, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- OSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIS), a vertically-integrated provider of specialized electronic products for critical applications in the Security and Healthcare industries, today announced that its security division, Rapiscan Systems, has been awarded a $9 million contract to provide multiple Eagle(R) transmission X-ray cargo and vehicle inspection systems to a European customs agency.

OSI Systems CEO, Deepak Chopra, stated, "Eagle transmission X-ray cargo and vehicle inspection systems are the premier non-intrusive inspection solution for customs agencies who value high-performance, high-throughput security systems. Unlike some detection technologies that have limited penetration capabilities, Eagle transmission X-ray systems can detect contraband, weapons, narcotics and other threat items even at the center of densely packed containers or vehicles." Mr. Chopra continued, "We look forward to implementing our cargo solutions for this critical security application. With the broad technology base at Rapiscan, we continue to expand our screening options available to port, border, and air cargo security customers."

Eagle(R) Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Systems

OSI System's line of Eagle(R) cargo and vehicle inspection systems are used by customs agencies, military organizations and homeland security worldwide because they provide outstanding image quality and threat detection, while maximizing the operational effectiveness of customers. Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems use proprietary transmission X-ray technology which, unlike other inspection technologies, is able to penetrate well beyond the surface of a container or vehicle to provide comprehensive detection of threats. Over 100 Eagle cargo and vehicle inspection systems have been deployed worldwide.
