OSI Systems Awarded Contract For Approximately $4.3 Million For Mobile Cargo & Vehicle Inspection Systems

OSI Systems Awarded Contract For Approximately $4.3 Million For Mobile Cargo & Vehicle Inspection SystemsOSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: OSIS), a vertically-integrated provider of specialized electronic products for critical applications in the Security and Healthcare industries, announced today that its Security division, Rapiscan Systems, was awarded an approximate $4.3 million contract for multiple mobile Cargo and Vehicle Inspection systems from the Hungarian Customs and the Central Finance Control Unit of the Hungarian Ministry of Finance.

Rapiscan Systems President, Mr. Ajay Mehra, said, Rapiscan Systems is honored to have been awarded this strategic security contract with Hungarian Customs.  As part of the European Union, Hungary has a pivotal role in trade security in Europe.

Rapiscan Systems provides mobile Cargo and Vehicle Inspection systems utilizing either Gamma Technology or High Energy X-ray. The Rapiscan Gamma product line provides approximately 170mm - 190mm of steel penetration enabling it to detect hidden contraband, including weapons, explosives, drugs, undeclared goods and weapons of mass destruction.  The systems have an intrinsically lower radiation field when compared to equivalent X-ray systems. They require a smaller operational area and exclusion safety zone than other inspection systems.

The Eagle Mobile is a high-performance 4.5 MV x-ray inspection system, providing approximately 280mm -300mm of steel penetration to rapidly and accurately inspect containers and trucks at seaports and land border crossings.  The Eagle's high-energy x-ray imaging system can produce a high-resolution image of a 20-foot container in less than 10 seconds. Even dense cargo can be clearly imaged reducing the need for time consuming manual inspections.
